PR and Finding Keywords Explained

After my post yesterday regarding using comments in blogs for link building I received a lot of feedback from people wanting to understand but not knowing what Google PR was, how to see it and the way they should be backlinking to other websites including which keywords to use.

Rather than email everyone back personally, I have included a couple of videos here which I hope will be of some help in explaining.

The first one below explains how to see a websites pagerank. I would like to add quickly here, that although at the moment a sites pagerank does generally reflect it’s popularity and how much ‘good’ it can do you, there are rumours flying around that Google will soon stop Pagerank and that you should ignore it completely. I am sitting on the fence on this one, I think it is important to keep a watchful eye on it but it should not be your life’s ambition to get a decent Pagerank, instead build your site for your readers and the success will come.

This second video shows how to select the keywords you should use. I personally use the Google Adwords Key tool and I think this guy explains it pretty well. He also has some good tips at the end on using typos which is very valuable information.

If you’re wasting a lot of time building back links and need some help or just want to find out more about back linking check out the free videos here. The first one is regarding a great plugin called ‘yet another related post’. I should point out quickly that he uses Wordpress.org which is different to Wordpress.com which we use; ignore his method of installation and use the install plugins feature instead in wp-admin. Just do a search for ‘yet another related post’ and it will be the first option.
